Our Christmas Tree 2012
Hey there, friends! Happy Friday to you! Today, instead of my usual Room Translation post, I’m going to share our Christmas tree with you! We set ours up last week, the day before Thanksgiving, and we have been enjoying it ever since. :-) I had originally planned to make all of the ornaments for our tree this year, but time got away from me, so we used the same ornaments as last year and the year before. My awesome mother-in-law was kind enough to hand over her Purple Tree ornaments from years’ past, but this time I added a few extra things to zhush it up!
Our living room is definitely a work-in-progress at this point, but this adds such prettiness to it. :-) Let’s take a closer look…
There are gold strung beads and berry sprigs all over the tree. The berries are on branches, and I just stuck those in there all over the place. These are the same berries that I used to fill the beautiful white tree trunk vase, remember? The gold beads are from Hobby Lobby. I only bought one pack, and they filled the whole tree, but they definitely aren’t the star of the show, you know? You may want to pick up more than one package if you want the gold beads to make a bigger appearance.
There are birds, too. I mean, of course there are birds. I may or may not have had one of these cuties clipped to my shirt while Grey and I were decorating. How could I not?
There are an abundance of purple ornaments throughout the tree. A lot of them are from HomeGoods, and some of them my mother-in-law made, I think. There are a few random one-offs in there that I love because it’s a really fun mix.
This is my husband’s favorite ornament. Isn’t it pretty? I just love that he has a “favorite.” :-)
This was the first year that I made a bow for the top of our tree. I found this tutorial online and roughly used it as a guide. For all of you who put a bow on your tree, do you find the actual making of the bow to be difficult? I had a hard time with it! And then my hubby totally man-handled it as he was putting it on the top of the tree, and I just screeched in horror, “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!” Lol. He just looked at me. I calmly collected myself and we fixed it, but I had a “moment.” ;-) Poor guy.
So, there’s our tree, my friends! I think we’ll be doing another theme next year to go better with our new furniture that we have bought this year and last. But I will be keeping these purple ornaments, of course, because a girl’s gotta have options, right?
Do you have a themed tree in your home? Do you use anything unique for a tree topper?
*Happy birthday to my sweet, amazing hubby today. 25 never looked so good, my love! xo*
