Beach House Inspiration

For those of you who don’t know, I have a very big dream of someday having several properties for my family and I to spend our time at.  In this very large dream (lol) we have a woodsy vacation home, and a beach house.  In the past, I have written about my inspiration for our woodsy home, but today I thought that I would share some fun ideas for our someday-beach house.  :-)  Every once in a while, I will write a post like this.  It’s fun for me to compile my ideas into a post and I hope that it’s fun to kind of dream with me!  ;-)

In my dream beach house, there would be lots of blue and white.  I especially love a great blue and white toile fabric — I would love to use a fabric like that throughout our beach house.  My favorite is when a traditional fabric like toile is mixed with more modern elements — such dimension!

I would love a bedroom full of windows that lead out to the beach.  Yes, people — I want my house to be just steps away from the water.  :-)  Imagine cracking these windows open and hearing those waves crashing onto one another.  Sounds magical to me.

I will need an open space so that I can float our furniture — and I would love to have furniture with dressmaker details aplenty.  Lots of special pieces full of detail and personality.

This is Melissa’s house from The Inspired Room.  I am in love with her copper lantern, and I wish for our beach house to have at least one!  ;-)  Check out that beautiful stained glass window, too!  Ar e you in love yet?  You should definitely go take a peek at her blog — it’s one of my absolute favorites!

I am loving these dark wood floors that add such warmth to the bright white color surrounding it.  Yes, please.  And a puppy waiting for me by the front door would be nice, too.  :-)  I’ll have to convince my husband of that one, though!  Ha!

Stenciled stair risers.  I’m not totally certain that I would actually do this, but how gorgeous is it?!  Maybe I could do this on the stairs leading up to our beach house from the actual beach — or from the front of the beach house.  I think this would be a really pretty look outdoors, and with fading of the tile and such, it would have such a beautiful aged and weathered look over time.

Brightly-colored exterior doors — you just can’t go wrong with them when it comes to a beach house.  I do like that this door is a soft bright color, though — your eyes stream over it nicely but it adds such cute charm!

Okay, people — this?  Is my dream spot.  This is what I call a fireplace gather zone — a great place to relax after a day in the water.  I’ll need cozy armchairs, window seats, fun accent chairs, and an ottoman or two — plenty of seating for our (hopefully) large family.  ;-)  *Sigh*

What about your dream vacation home?  Beach, mountains, where would you want it to be?  What else needs to be in your someday beach house?

My dream vacation home would definitely be at the beach! Lots of white walls with dark floors (love those), white slipcovered furniture with green and coral accents!
